Base Oils

Paraffinic Oil

LubBase® oils are refined by an advanced hydrocracking and catalytic dewaxing process in state-of-the-art refinery facilities. The resulting base oil is highly saturated, water-white color and virtually free of aromatics, polar compounds and sulfur. The result is a paraffinic base oil without the impurities that limit the performance of conventional base oils.

LubBase® Performance Characteristics:

  • Highly saturated
  • Virtually no aromatics or impurities
  • Colorless
  • Uniform composition
  • High oxidation/thermal stability
  • Viscosity stability
  • Low volatility
  • Improved demulsibility

LubBase® Group II Applications:

  • Passenger car motor oils
  • Heavy duty diesel engine oils
  • Automatic transmission fluids
  • Agricultural uses (crop/spray oils)
  • Rubber processing
  • Automotive parts
  • Heat transfer oils
  • Adhesives
  • Industrial oils
  • Marine oils
  • Textile oils

Naphthenic Oil

Naphthenic base oils are severely hydrotreated pale oils made from crude oil distillates. The paraffin content in these oils is low so they have an inherently low pour point and do not require solvent dewaxing.

Naphthenic base oils are normally used in specialty applications such as metal working fluids and greases. Due to its solvency power, LubND® oils are easily dissolved in solution. Naphthenic base oils also provide better low-temperature performance than paraffinic oils, which makes them ideal for formulating hydraulic fluids and automatic transmission fluids (ATFs).

Process Oil

LubProcess® is an aromatic oil derived from the extraction of aromatics in paraffinic oil production. LubProcess® is typically dark in color, have relatively high flash points, low aniline points, and high aromatic content. LubProcess® is normally used where a degree of solvency is desired for a softening, or plasticizing effect.
